Default Does 718 GTS 4.0 have matrix LED light?

After severals months of waiting, my 2024 GTS 4.0 finally landed. In the report I got from VIN Decoder, it lists 634 LED Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) under Optional Equipment, but it also lists 602 LED Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) under Additional Equipment. So I am bit confused about what option is equipped.
Maybe a dumb question, does 602 LED Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) mean it has the matrix LED functionality (although disabled in US)?
If so, can I enable the matrix function by PIWIS III ?

First time Porsche owner, sorry in advance for any stupid comments or questions LOL.

I wish there was a matrix LED option, but it was never an option.

Yeah, configurator only allowed 'PDLS' on Caymans, not '+'. They should have been offered at least on GT cars IMO, but none has it. In fact, LED headlights are not even standard on GT cars. Caymans without the 4 'slits' look dated IMO, so that was a must-have option for me, among many others.

No, even the US 992.2 don’t have full matrix functionality

Note: Full LED-Matrix functionality (individual operation of 32,000 LEDs) is limited for the US market. Individual LEDs are programmed to operate as a single light source to perform the functions listed above.

718 GT cars get the Clubsport lights as base equipment

PDLS+ was available but discontinued because of supplier shortage…or something around the war.

This platform almost decade old…so many things out of date

Hey, it's WELL over a decade old. It came out in 2012, and it's still going for 2025. So 14 years if my math is correct. The 718 was just a refresh, as both interior and exterior are almost identical to the 981, including suspension and transmissions. Just new engines, and the expected cosmetic changes (taillights, headlights, interior vents, and slightly larger infotainment screen).

I don’t understand the above. The 982 was released in 2017, so we’re 8 model years in.

Not much shared with 981, other than some interior elements.

You can read the full PAG press release here:

https://newsroom.porsche.com/dam/jcr...18_0111_us.pdf

Regardless, this thread about lights and LEDs not offered until 982 iirc

When specifying my GTS Cayman earlier this week we had a discussion about the LED lights. There was according to the advisers I was with a brief period when PDLS+ was offered but it was reduced to PDLS during the (chip) supply shortages and has never been reinstated. However I am assured that the LEDs are very much superior to even the more powerful Xenons offered; I like the look of them too.

As an aside we have a Polestar 2 with matrix lights and they are one modern car technology that actually meet the hype given to them IMO and it is a shame they aren't available on the 718s.

They're almost identical, but whatever you want to tell yourself. Underneath look identical too, and inside, just outside the modified vents and infotainment, exactly the same thing. Calling it a 'new' platform was BS, but all manufacturers do that. The 718 I drove felt identical to my 981, except the engine, which was a downgrade for me. But it is what it is.

I guess you didn’t read the 20 page press release. You’d be hard pressed to find many carry over items…but carry on.

You just need to believe your eyes. They're improvements of the same platform. Or modifications, if you want, but calling it 'new' is a hyperbolic stretch. That was my point. And other than having struts all around, I'm perfectly fine with the old platform, so not complaining here. And also fine with the PDLS (non+) LED headlights, to close on the subject. But I'm learning to refrain from any 'critical' comments here, since anything that is not praise to Porsche, is viewed like an insult to most folks here, it seems. So I'm done here. Take care.

Getting PDLS+ was for sure an issue when I ordered my 2023 Spyder, I almost got my lights swapped without my consent due to the shortage but got super lucky on probably one of the last ones with the +. Same story on my buckets and Pccb’s.

Does PDLS+ add anything other than auto high beam on/off on the 718?

I think that’s correct, it deleted the +camera element.

There was a gap between PDLS+ discontinued and LED PDLS coming out.
