So I just bought a Shark Blue Cayman GT4 which I love. I had to take it in for a quick update at my local Porsche dealer, and they have a very well optioned Cayman GT4 RS coming in (the last of two they are getting). It stickers at $203k. They were going to take my car in for trade, but they're lowballing my trade in.
I countered at the $203k with a $25k ADM for the car, and they went for it.
My question is - should I take this, and sell my car? The question isn't about upgrading, it's more about am I getting a decent value for the GT4 RS?
I can't figure out if the GT4 RS's will continue going above MSRP or if the market will eventually settle.

With inflation, end of ICE 718s and the fact this truly a special car and will be so forever....MSRP is most likely the worst case floor on these cars. Don't be surprised if they appreciate and follow the same pattern as other RS Porsches.

RS cars historically have always held their value more than any other trim model if thats what you are worried about. Now granted this is the first and probably last GT4RS which means along with the Spyder RS, will put it in collectors status much more than any GT3RS as Porsche will keep making those. 228k for a well optioned GT4RS sounds like a pretty great deal and i can easily see it holding its value over the next decade or so. Keep in mind the 991.2 RS still sells for over 240k used in some places and as the GT4RS will be more rare i expect the same to happen or even the value to go up. That being said i have no credentials and have only really monitored current trends so i could be completely off the mark so take what i say with a hefty grain of salt.

I first would recommend you repost this in the 718 GTS 4.0/GT4/GT4RS/Spyder/25th Anniversary forum. My $.02 is to go for it, assuming it's truly what you want and you have the means. We don't yet know if they will continue production into MY25, and this is a once in a generation car.

If you're looking at this with an eye towards investment vs enjoyment of driving then, I think, it's not worth it. The delta between your car and the RS can be invested elsewhere for likely a higher return in the long run. However, if you like PDK + the DFI GT3 engine experience, then it does seem like a decent deal. Personally, I would keep the GT4 (especially if it's a manual) and then think about buying a GT3 for that experience.

The GT4RS is peak Porsche and with impending hybridization, electrification, etc. will be a perpetual classic. $25 ADM is a no brainer from both an enthusiast and a financial perspective. If you got your GT4 at MSRP, you can probably sell it privately for slightly over and recoup part of the ADM.
This one is simple IMO - get the RS.

Go for it, you'll love the RS (this is coming from someone who has owned both a 981 & 718 GT4).
