It's amazing how dark it looks in shade. My friend has your twin and it often looks closer to Chalk in the sun (only better ).

Wow. Seriously? I LOVED my Talon. Doing research for my first car out of college it what got me hooked on cars. Mine was only FWD, but the AWD system in those cars were SUPER heavy, like close to 400 pounds, so I always won drag races with the AWD versions. Mine was black on black, 5 speed manual. I bought it for $16,400 and sold it 5 years for $6,000. My next car was a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Sport/Manual...loved it too.

I wanted the non-turbo for longevity and lower repair costs. Mine was option package 23D in white with black roof. That's the turbo look body cladding. I had it for 3 years and sold it in like new condition for I think 12k. I enjoyed that car.

Crazy. Those cars felt SO quick back in the day, but mainly down low. They lost steam as the speeds increased. However, I believe the 0-30 for the turbo models was something like 1.9 seconds, which was super quick for the day...with 6.3 to 60 (for the FWD model). We all had good tastes!

Yup, we all had... HAVE good taste. Here we are now on the Porsche 718 forums! So yea, anything mid-engine is great. (See what I did there? Just circling this back on track. LOL)

OK this is the Readers Digest version of our first Porsche,
Our Honda Civic had over 100,000 miles on it and it was time for a change. My wife wanted a convertible again, her last one was an 88 Mustang GT convertible. She came home one day and said that she saw a Porsche convertible on her way home and she liked how it looked but really couldn’t tell me anything else about the car. A couple of weeks later there was a Cars and Coffee at the Lambo dealership not far away and there was a Porsche dealership next to it. We went to the Cars and Coffee in my Corvette and walked to the Porsche dealership to see if we could find the car she saw on the road.
We met with the salesperson and he was incredibly nice! We did find the car she saw and it was a 718 Boxster, thankfully not a Turbo S convertible. Neither one of us really knew very much about Porsche and the sales rep was incredibly helpful and explained a lot about Porsche and going back into Porsche history. She went for a ride and just loved the base Boxster.
We sat down with the rep and started to price out a car for her. With options it was around 68K so very doable. We had to make at least another half dozen trips back to the dealership trying to decide which seat was best. Although the car was for my wife we picked the seat that I wanted, Sport Plus. Unfortunately at this same time our 23 year old roof started leaking badly in multiple spots and had to be replaced and I told her that we couldn’t get both the car and the new roof. She understood reluctantly and kept driving her Civic to work. I knew that she was really disappointed so I went to the dealership and ordered the car without her knowledge. The way I saw it, it was just too important to her and I was not going to disappoint her after being together for 40 years. So if the car came in early, it would be a Christmas present, on time, her birthday and late Valentines Day. It came in two days before her birthday. The way I wanted to surprise her got messed up but she was still surprised. She loved that car !!
Because we did not have a Porsche background the fact that it did not sound like a flat 6 engine really didn’t mean anything to us because we had nothing to compare it to. We have since traded the base Boxster for a Boxster 25 with the 4.0 and it is an amazing car. I will admit that the NA six sounds smoother than the Turbo four but the Turbo is still a lot fun. I have also since traded my 67 Corvette for a 2018 Cayman GTS, but that is another story.
What Adam said above is so true, buy the best Porsche that you can afford. I like the 4.0 because it has the bottom end of the Turbo with the wonderful sounds of the NA six. Since you have the Tesla coupe I highly recommend getting a Boxster as the weekend sports car. I am not a convertible person but driving it early morning or evening with the top down is a special feeling that you don’t get in a coupe.
Whether you get the 2.5T or the 4.0 Boxster, you are really going like the car. I mean really, really like the car. Best of luck with your journey.

@OldJedi I love that you decided to still get the car for your wife even if it wasnt the best financial decision. Not that you couldnt afford it, but 2 big expenses at the same time usually means the more fun one isnt the one that gets chosen. I'd love to hear about your wife's reaction when she found out her car was going to be a reality. I hope to do the same one day for my wife. I've been saving up for it but i hope to buy her a Carrera one day. it's her dream car and she loves the 911. She doesnt care for a bunch of the higher trims, she just loves how they look and how they drive.

Thanks, I don’t want to steal the OP’s thread but quickly she was surprised and truly loved that car. She loved LOVED ❤️ beating 911’s off the line at traffic lights! Now with an extra 100HP in the B25 she is REALLY HAPPY. I will DM you with more about what happened so I don’t steal the thread… Now back to our regularly scheduled program.
