Default Turbo help

Hey guys,

I’m new to the Porsche world and researching my next project. I compete in tarmac rallying in the uk and want to build a new car that’s a bit different than the usual mk2 escorts. Now, here’s where I’m getting stuck as I’ve moved from high revving Hondas to researching turbo charged engines. I’m looking at a 718 Gts.

my basic question.

The rules state that any turbo charged engine has to be fitted with the restricter, for a 2.5 litre turbo charged engine the inlet restricter would have to be 32mm. Obviously there would be a large power decrease but does anyone have any idea how badly the restricter would affect the engine in both performance, reliability and heat issues? Would it even work?

What is the standard size of the GTS turbo inlet? I’ve tried googling and have had no luck.

Incase you wonder why not get the 981 s or the 4.0, basically if the engine is over 3 litres it goes into a sub category of ‘GT’ cars with heavy restrictions on what you can do. The 2.5 turbo would fit in the general stage rally rules so allows more modifications and to be completely honest is way less likely to be banned. The governing body makes u turn’s constantly and as the GT rules are a bit of a side note I can see them getting rid of there’s any bad publicity with emission nonsense.

any help is appreciated! I can only find information on restricted Subarus and evos, I don’t think anyone is as stupid as me! 😂
