Question Strange Clicking Noise when I press the brake pedal

Hello!

I have a 2020 718 Cayman with around 16,000 km. Today when I wanted to start the engine, while in Park, I pressed on the brake pedal and head a clicking noise coming from the central console around the PDK gear lever. When I remove my foot again, the same clicking noise is heard again. A video is attached which shows this.

I drive the car pretty much 6 days in a week and this is the first time I have heard something like this.

When I move it into Drive and drive normally, there is no sound heard when I tap on the brakes.

Any ideas to what is going on? I have also contacted my local Porsche center to help me and their response was "sir this is a normal sound. he said there was a boxster in front of him, so he went inside and he said that he heard the same sound" ....I asked him how come I have never heard this sound in the nearly 3 years of ownership and he could not give me a reply" I smell BS here.

Any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Thanks!

It's hard to see your foot in the video but it sounds like the shifter interlock mechanism that prevents the shifter from being moved unless the brake pedal is depressed. FWIW mine doesn't make that sound. I'm guessing it's probably an electro-mechanical plunger that is built into the shifter housing. Does the sound align with your brake lights coming on? Good Luck!
