Default Clicking noise

I have a 2018 718. It has been parked for several days in the garage. This afternoon, I walked into the garage and heard a clicking noise. The noise was coming from in front of the passenger side front wheel. The car had not been driven and it was stone cold.

Has anyone else had this issue?

More serious reply - I have heard this intermittently since new over 4+ years of ownership (2018 CS). No idea what it is, but car has been flawless so I don't worry.

Had the car been driven recently ? I’m guessing same phenomenon and a house creaking and cracking as the temp goes up or down. Maybe something making that noise as it cools.

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better.

I had a 944 many years ago that did the same thing. It was an electrical issue on a capacitor going bad. None of all of the 911s I have owned over the year have ever had something like this.

I was more worried about it causing an electrical short or worse, an electrical fire. I drove it last night and it hasn't made the clicking noise since .

The weird thing is, it wasn't a cooling noise. The car had been parked for several days before it started.

I thought I read that the car goes into a "sleep" or "power saving mode" after a while of sitting to preserve the battery. I don't know if that is true, but that could have been something to do with it if it is true. .

The DME is programmed to turn off receiver circuits after five days (sleep mode) but I’ve never heard of this being associated with a clicking noise. Best look for those rodents…
