Default nav system

Purchased a dealer allocation 2022 boxster it has the nav and map switches when depressed message indicates nav system not available checking further I find that the nav system is only available when you purchase the 2k option which I don't have any need for. I am assuming that the hardware for the nav system is installed in the vehicle when built and would probably need some sort of software activation to be usable as a basic nav system. has anyone experienced this and found a solution I have owned several porsches over the years and never run into this problem even my wifes base model Macan has as a nav system as standard equipment. Thank you

It's not a problem, your car wasn't ordered with Nav. As far as I now, dealers can't/won't activate, but some third parties supposedly can.

I use carplay for navigation. Works better than any car system.

I always buy Nav, but mostly use CarPlay. It’s just easier. Nav is great for long trips because you can bring it up in the instrument cluster - almost as good as heads-up - but if I had an iPhone and the car didn’t have it, I wouldn’t give it a second thought.

I rarely use the in car nav. That is why I skipped that option when ordering mine. Still waiting on my car to be delivered, but I purchased a carlink adapter that adds wireless carplay to a carplay enabled car and it is working great so far in my VW SUV. The SUV has the Audi like virtual cockpit where the whole dash is the map.

This. Also, unlike car systems, phone maps are updated frequently and you don't have to pay extra to download them.
