Default 718 GT4 on U-Haul trailer

I heard that they “don’t fit”… is this true? Is the track too wide? Is the front fascia too low?

I pulled my RS6 on one, it was lowered so had to be careful, the track was wider than the GT4.

Southpaw, I pulled my GT4 all over the place using U-Haul trailers. They are light, and strong, and with the front wheel basket straps make it very secure. I always add 2 my own 2 straps crossed for the rears as well.

But, you will have to raise the front end the equivalent of (2) 2x12s to clear the front spoiler over the affixed metal front wheel stop.

And, you will have to find an uneven pavement to reduce the angle of attack when loading unloading. The joys of driving a car with ground effects!

So, here is your shopping list:
- (4) 2 x12x 4' long.
- (2) 2 x 12 x 22" and (2) 2 x 12 x 16"

You will need (2) 4' long board under the ramps as extender lifters. Required even if you have found an uneven pavement for loading.

Put (2) of the 4' boards on the u-haul trailer abut to the front strap rod. These will be your lifters allowing you to roll onto the double boards needed under the wheel when you get all the way up to the wheel stops.

Then, build your double board 18" centered on top of the 24" board and place all the way in front abut to the trailer's wheel stop.

So to review, you first find an uneven drive where you reduce the angle of attach of the built in ramps. (Note; some people have used ramps under the rear wheel to elevate the nose of the trailer). However, you do it, reduce the angle. Then, put the boards under the ramps. This will lift your nose just in time as the wheel climbs up on the board allowing the splitter the clear. Then drive onto the trailer and your second set of boards that are on the trailer. This lifts your nose so you are able to clear the double board. There will be still be plenty of wheel stop left so it still works well when you strap it down.

It sounds like a lot of trouble but really, once you have the the correct boards, its easy.

I cut my board ends on a 45 degree angle to allow the wheels easy up.

And one other warming; every so often I will find a uhaul trailer where they installed the jack in reverse. Instead of leaning forward, it leans aft toward the car. You can't rent that one because your nose will bump into it when you are pulling up to the wheel stops. Another warning, do not make major steering adjustments when on the trailer as your wheels will hit the trailer edge lip.

Care and patience when loading and unloading any trailer is required.

All aluminum, light and tough as nails. Darn I even went out and bought a big box trailer, but still rent the darn u-haul from time to time when I am going long distance pulling with the Cayenne. The fuel save alone pays for the rental.
