The manettino on the steering wheel is part of the Sport Chrono package.

It has nothing to do with PASM.

So, the S at which you are looking is missing Sport Chrono.

thanks. So the PASM is merely adjusted with the buttons on the console ? . Seems like every Cayman 718 with PASM that I have seen has the dial on the steering wheel. I guess that means they all have the sports Chrono package.

Yes. There is a center console button that will change the PASM mapping.

Sport Chrono is a "popular" option. Especially on PDK. Not so much with a manual.

The manettino is part of the Sport Chrono package. Only. If you see the manettino it has Sport Chrono. If you don't see the manettino it does not have Sport Chrono.

So what console buttoned do Iook for to verify PASM? The button with the shock graphic?

also - so a car can have sport chrono and the manettino and still NOT have PASM?

You can also get the window sticker at Suncoast if you have the VIN.

PASM is the shock icon, press it and the dash says sport suspension.

Install the Good to Know app on your phone. You can then download the manual, it has a whole section on sport chrono and the different modes.

Advantage? I dunno. You don't have to move your hand as much?

The *purpose* is to allow the operator to change modes between Normal, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

The form factor and name - i.e. manettino - are 'stolen' from recent Ferraris. Why do Ferraris have them? Because Race Car. It adds a bit of "Formula 1" to the steering wheel. The function could have as easily been performed by yet more buttons on the center console or some other HMI form.

So, its form (of manettino) is a Marking Gimmick.

I may be the only one that calls it a manettino on a Porsche. PAG literature refers to it as a 'mode switch.' I guess Porsche's Marketing folks were scared of Ferrari's lawyers.

so if one does not have the mode switch how do you change from Normal, to Sport to Sport plus?

He should have written “…Normal, to Sport to Sport plus if Sport Chrono is ordered.” With SC, you console button switches to Sport mode only. The Porsche website explains all this, and the “Good to Know” app is a good reference also.

Thanks everyone… Lol and I just thought the sport Chrono package was just a fancy clock on the dash… That’s what I get for listening to some of the sales advisors. I got the good to know app and that was very helpful.

Yes, and if you get the PDK, you’ll also have Launch Control and Sport Response. It’s totally worth the bucks and the reason most add it in.

And:
- PSM Sport Mode.
- Individual mode.

Also, of arguable benefit:
- Active drive line mounts.
