Default How to safely clean center console

My 718 had some sort of felt pad glued to the seat buckle, presumably to stop rattling. The driver's side felt came off and really sticky adhesive is smeared on the side of the center console. Normal interior cleaner doesn't budge it.

I figure I need some sort of solvent, but am concerned with damaging the vinyl material. Has anyone any suggestions? Has anyone successfully used isopropyl alcohol on this material without damage?

All pointers gratefully received.

Should be fine, since that's how we remove our air bag stickers off a similar surface.

Use denatured alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is pretty weak by comparison, 91% vs 100%. Home Depot. Paint aisle.

Do a small test spot in a hidden area first.

I use ISO 90 instead of 100, as its working time is slightly longer, but both won’t harm the console.

Avoid your seats and such, as this will dry it out.
I suggest applying the alcohol directly to a rag and then wiping. Take you two minutes.

Thanks all for the great advice. Goo Gone is remarkably overpriced where I live, so I'll try the denatured alcohol. I'll report back with results.

With the extra denatured alcohol you'll surly have, make some Concours award winning glass cleaner:

Spray bottle
1 part denatured alcohol
2 parts distilled water

Just reporting back. Denatured alcohol worked great. No damage to the material.
