PTS is paint to sample (custom color). Porsche offered it in 2017-2018 as a $5.500 USD option on the Cayman. In 2019, the PTS went to ~$10.900 or something very close to that amount.

At $5,500 I would have ordered Mexico Blue. Miami Blue has a hint of green under certain light conditions, hence the name Miami Blue.

PTS on a 718 is now $11,430 except for the GT4 / Spyder which is $12,830.

Miami Blue is a refreshing color in a sea of White / Black / Silver / Grey.......

That is breathtakingly expensive. Yeah...the only way I get Miami Blue is if its a CPO..otherwise hello White or Agate Grey.

I am firmly in the camp of do what makes you happy. Cars are a great canvas on which to express ourselves.

I went with Jet Black Metallic when the Aventurine green car i want would not be delivers until 2022. Doing a black theme with orange accents. But I am really liking it.

I've had two Boxsters in Miami Blue and am currently contemplating a third. As others have said, color is entirely subjective, but personally I think Miami Blue is *the* single best bright color Porsche has ever come out with (and I find it superior even to all the PTS blues that people understandably love). I was crushed when they discontinued it. For what it's worth, I also think of all the models Porsche makes, the Boxster/Cayman are the ones made for Miami Blue, it just suits the car so well. My previous two:

Addressing 981 vs 718 4 cyl turbo, we have both and my experience (opinion) is this: (note, both are GTS's)
The 981 slightly wins in the exhaust sound category, more than slightly at high RPM's and when in sport plus. And I feel a little more connected to the road via the steering. not as much as our previous 987.1, but a little more than the 718.
The 718 turbo edges out the 981 in everyday street driving. The reason is the turbo, when you need a little or a lot of juice you get it with no drama. Meaning, no need to force a downshift. Just push the pedal a little or a lot more and the response is almost instant. If you are going to spend a fair amount of time on interstate highways you will definitely like the 718.
This is a good time to note I am talking GTS specifically, the turbo geometry is different than the non-GTS is my understanding. Also should note the 981 is a 2015, the 718 a 2018.
Your color inquiry has been fully answered, however I will add this: Everybody other than you is going to see the car, see the color. Rarely will anyone else drive it and know the difference between a 981 and a 718...

You're welcome.
It’s a cucking folor. You really have to go back 3+ decades and rope in drug dealers to disparage a color?

Thank you for the insight about the difference between the two models...this was helpful. I am also thinking the 718 might be more for me, not just because of warranty (which is important to me), but also because commuting everyday to and from work...mostly highway, it would come in handy. Also, I understand sound is very important to the fun of having a sports car...heck, that is why i am trading in my Tesla, but I have read that the sound of the 981 comes alive in the high rev range 5k or so? I don't don't think my driving habits would get me that high in that range very long or often so not sure I would really be able to enjoy it much. I don't think I could go wrong with either car though....they both looks amazing.

Last question, kind go a general car buying question...as I mentioned in my original post, the car is in Jersey and I am in Pittsburgh, do you all think I should try to sell my current car locally for cash and then travel to Jersey to see the car and use the money to purchase it or drive the car to Jersey and see how much they offer for it? I would just hate to drive all that way and then get a low ball offer for it. Would almost feel like a wasted trip.

Thanks again for all the comments, I really appreciate it.

One other consideration with the 718 4-cylinder versus the 981/718 GTS 6-cylinder is tuning. You mentioned warranty being important so perhaps it's not relevant in your situation, but throwing an APR Stage 1 tune on the 2.5T turns it into a true rocket, and really puts the 6-cylinder to shame from a torque standpoint. Whether that's worth the tradeoff of losing the exhaust note and throttle response is personal preference, but it certainly has me torn right now between a 2.5T or a 4.0 GTS.

Miami Blue is a great color to many, even the ones that drive Black, White and Gray cars, but they will not admit it since they drive Black, White and Gray cars.

what an idiotic thing to say over a car color. Or at all.

One more vote for get the color you love and don't worry about it ever again.

I saw a Miami Blue 991.2 TTS Coupe at my local dealership and fell in love with the color. I went on an exhaustive 18 month hunt for a 991.2 GTS Cab 7MT in Miami Blue and finally found one just 350 miles from home. I have never once regretted my decision to go with Miami Blue. Every time we park the Porsche somewhere, I turn around and look and it brings a smile to my face-every single time..

Enjoy your new ride!
