Here is my 2C from my experience...in regards to mid engine Porsches we own a '13 BS and a '18 CGTS. We previously had another '13 BS and a '16 981GT4 (only manual mid engine). Based on significant use of the Boxster / Cayman platform over many years and aggregate 60k+ miles, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the CGTS with the 2.5L turbo. We recently purchased the car at a significant discount and essentially fully loaded with unique options (PTS), low miles, and a recently punched initial warranty. We use ours for auto-x, track days, as well as daily driving and its always been a hoot. Car feels great through the power band and the turbo lag can't be felt that easily. The car even sounds decent when you're driving it. I looked at various options including new 4.0 GTS/GT4 prior to pulling trigger on this. Financially it just made sense for me to find a CPO 2.5L with extended warranty that already took the depreciation to use for all the purposes expressed above.
