Given that Ernesto sold the company, I'll be keeping all my Colnagos...but I will throw in the SeaSucker.

[QUOTE=colnagoG60;16821096]Car is pushing 39k miles. I've had some issues, all documented on different threads here, but all resolved (hooray CPO!). Ironically, car is running better now than when I picked it up. I'm kind of debating whether to do 4.5L, get new 718, or add another car later. Unfortunately I feel like Indiana Jones when the knight told him to, "Choose wisely!"

I still have my deposit/allocation for the 718 GT4 from April '19, but when the specs/pricing were released, and my build put it striking distance to a GT3, I thought twice about what to get. A few days later, the 981 came up, and was really close to how I'd option, so I went for it. But now I'm sort of regretting missing out on the experience of "owning from new". 718 may be last shot at NA block.

I decided to place an order for a GT4 after thinking seriously about 991.1 GT3 and 991.2 GT3RS. I cannot explain why, but I prefer the design of the .1 GT3 to that of the .2 GT3. I like both RSs equally. Price-wise, I was really looking at a range of mid 110s for CPO .1 GT3s, stretching up to 160 for a .1 GT3RS. There's been a few really nice .2 GT3s that have fallen into that price range, but although technically it is a better car in pretty much every way from what I've read in comparison to the .1 models, I don't love the design. This is massively subjective, and I don't expect anyone to share my opinion. Most would go for "newer is better."
In the end, I chose the GT4 w/PDK for the following reasons:
1. Love the look of the Cayman, especially the GT4, both 981 and 982. This will be my third Cayman and probably not my last.
2. Full warranty from new.
3. I loved the process of custom building my 981 S from new, so I wanted to do it again.
4. The GT3 that excited me the most was the 991.1 RS in Lava Orange or Ultraviolet. I found these selling pretty solidly in the 160+ tax range with market demand pretty strong, locally here in the SF Bay Area. After taxes, I was looking at about 50k in price difference from my GT4 build from new. Of course, I have not taken delivery of the GT4 yet, so maybe there's still a chance.
In terms of depreciation, I expect to lose a good amount more on the new GT4 than a preowned GT3. I think there is still more universal demand for a GT3, especially the RS. I think realistically, stretching to the RS for any generation would require more up front cost, but will likely hold its value much stronger over the same amount of time for the GT4. But even knowing this, I really like the Cayman design and handling characteristics.
These are good problems to have. We're all pretty lucky.

I was looking at same numbers. There was a .1rs for 147k in mass in UV that's been sitting forever...... I had the exact same thoughts as you until a PTS GT3 for under 140 fell into my lap.

However, I did not realise you could actually officially option the PDK in your order or that there was any official release date for the PDK GT4, just a vague estimate?

Agreed given world today, lucky that these are the top fun choices in our lives.

I've owned manual cars for the past 25 years. Beyond proficiency and engagement, it was second nature. That said, my pdk Boxster GTS is so quick shifting with paddles at the extreme, there is no doubt it outperforms any human shift changes. Get over it folks, it's a better way to be fast and is still engaging.

I firmly believe if you are committed to making lots of phone calls and buildings relationships you can make a deal. I am very far from smart, but I am patient and very persistent.
The GT4rs is still very intriguing.
My 981s always felt underpowered I was really worried I would feel the same about the GT4.
