Love the look of the new vette. It's primarily been looks and seating position that have kept me away from that car entirely over the past 10 years. I've also just been over RWD cars that can't put the power down even slightly well on the street. Spyder is great because I can use literally all of the power without any traction issues. Maybe the mid engine platform will help Chevy resolve that issue going forward when they release the Z06.

However, I don't think it would cause me to give up the Spyder. But I'm not brand loyal.

It will no doubt be a rocket ship on track.
There's been a few outlets that verified that the CEL is with the ignition OFF. It's fun to poke at on a Porsche forum but this car is a parade car and not one that will ever be for sale so who knows. I'm actually a fan of certain vetted and almost went with a C6 Z06 when I got my 987. Completely different cars and most days I'm happy. I'd only be 100% happy if I had unlimited time, money and space

Agreed! I would like both. And a 718 for that matter (don't shoot me, 98x forum).

I have a 981S, so I'm staying in the boat. They didn't even have to tie me to the mast.

But if we're talking realistic street prices with reasonable options, and if the choice is between a wheezing 4-banger for $90K and a 495 HP V8 for $70K, rest assured I'd be MORE than willing to overlook a few squeaks and rattles and a few extra pounds here and there. It wouldn't even be close.

Bottom line is that they aren't going to sell many 718s in the US market going forward.... not that they ever sold many here to begin with. Can't speak for any other markets, obviously.

I heard from a Chevy rep that the gold chain will no longer be a freebie when buying the C8.
They're really trying to change the Vette image.

New competition will help the Boxster/Cayman platform, go Chevy.

Will they still leave a wife beater in the glovebox?

I get it, and I probably would too. But I'm not sure we're particularly representative for the majority of Porsche buyers.

People who want a manual gearbox - won't get the C8.
People who want small and nimble - won't get the C8.
People who want something that looks at least slightly understated - won't get the C8.
People who are buying the badge/image - won't get the C8.

What's left? People who want a lot of bang for their bucks and don't care that it's a Chevy. In other words, mostly the usual Corvette customers.

I think this part is the argument for what's actually changed.
