Default Is 20k ADM for Spyder a rip-off? asap

I’ve never bought a Porsche so I’m not on a favorite list at any dealership but I’ve been on the interested list for a year now at a place in Cali. Just got a call and they were asking 20k ADM on my Spyder build.

Is this a ripoff? I’m sure my chances of getting anything at MSRP are impossible... but I’ve seen people sell their allocations on rennlist for cheaper.

Should I pull the trigger? Need speedy response. How well do you think it’ll hold its value above sticker?

i think I can negotiate down because I’m looking to buy a cayenne turbo soon if I go through them

Cheers

I think you know the answer is yes. $20k ADM is exorbitant. Waiting will help reduce ADM to zero

Yeah really thought so. I just don’t know the demand for the 718. What were ADMs like in 2016?

I know many like to only give msrp, but with no prior relations I’m not sure what a reasonable ADM is.

I am sure some dealer will take $10k happily.

Start dialing. East coast, mid west, or just wait it out and ADM will come down.

If you can just wait for ADMs to come down, what’s the point of paying more right now? Sooner delivery?

Porsche is building more cars. I paid ADM on my 3RS and regret it. If I would have waited 6 months, I would have got a MSRP car. Probably wouldn't get to spec my own colors, but looking back, I would live with that to save the cash. The GT4/Spyder is not a limited product.

I guess, I am waiting for PTS or a factory green color I like. Not paying adm on a 718. Paid on GT3, but I am more optimistic ADM will evaporate on 718.

Indeed, wanted 25k for GT4. Called some other dealers and said I could probably get it without ADM, insane asking for so much over.

$20k is ridiculous. MSRP is reasonable. They are going to make a ton of these cars. If you can wait until the hype is down a bit, you will get it for MSRP. Dealerships salivate over the folks who need to have it now. They make a killing on those guys.

It's not insane asking for it, but it is insane paying it.

Of course it's a ripoff. No car holds its value above sticker. Resale value is based on MSRP not ADM. I don't think Porsche will build a ton of these cars but they are not limited or numbered. The US dealers have not yet gotten their allocations so you're not buying the car, just a spot on the waiting list. If I were in your position and buying 2 vehicles, I would be looking for another dealer.

Nope - US dealers wont get them until potentially late summer / early fall (August/September)... at least that's what the rumor mill says.

As for OP: 20k is a rip-off. But, it could be worth it to you if you "gotta have it now" and the 20k is just some numbers on paper.
For reference, my dealership flat out said (when asked about ADM): "we don't do that".
