Default brake pad

2018 718 Cayman GTS. 12000 miles mostly street and occasional track use. Downsized to 19" wheels for the track.
New rear brake pad (OEM) cracked after 1 track day. Enough heat was generated to melt the sensors.
Defective pad? Anything to do with downsizing? Original brakes worthless for the track?

What do the brake rotors look like, have cracks developed around the cross drilled holes? also try Pagid RSL29.

I am switching to some Performance Friction to see how those work for the occasional track day. I have about the same miles and I think my rotors are either warped or have a lot of pad transfer. Will see if the new pads clear it up. I think your issue with the rear brakes is due to the PTV as it uses the rear brakes. You may need to fashion some brake cooling ducts for the rear to help cool those off.

Rotors are fine. PTV? I did use the parking brake one time (I should have known better). Manual transmission..

The 718 GTS has PTV standard. It is a limited slip differential with some electronic aides that use the rear brakes.
