911 or 718 spyder?
Had a 997.2. Was looking at a 991.2 targa, but can no longer order with rear axle steering or PTS.
Wont be the only car - but will be used on long journeys.
Used targa, or new spyder? I know the GT series are 'track' focused and thinking about terrible NJ roads, bumps, the suspension, comfort, etc...
I know they're very different cars, but I *love* the look of the Spyder, and unfortunately wont be able to get on the list for a Speedster, or afford one once the ADM is taken into account too ;p

Depends on the weather & how you drive it. Driving only on sunny days = Spyder. Any chance of driving in the rain = Targa.
Regarding value, I completely disagree with the above poster claiming that a regular run of the mill Targa will hold it’s value more than a more limited model like the Spyder which has the Porsche GT department influence. Just search on the forums here, too many value threads unfortunately, but they all point to the same conclusion: GT cars hold their value a LOT more than regular production cars. All cars depreciate eventually though so if this is a long term keeper who cares about value, drive it!

Totally agree. Unless you take account depreciation hit if the Spyder is new, there’s no way a GT car is depreciating faster than a ho-hum (but still nice!) 997 targa.

Three Wheelin'
I dont think spyder is better suited for long journey(sure it's doable though) than targa

Resale value will definitely favour the GT4 Spyder over a ‘run of the mill’ TT 991.2.

The Targa will be more comfortable, probably more practical, more versatile, faster in highway speeds. However the Spyder will be more unique, more direct, lighter, sound much better, and will hold value better. Pick and choose

Me too.
I don’t love the 992 at all. It’s heavier, due to stupid requirements for a future hybrid powertrain. It’s by no means a special car. I don’t love the new dash either.
I also thought of the 991.2 T. Great car. But ultimately not special - the T will stay in the lineup - and it’s under powered for the price. If you then step up to the S or GTS for more power, you get turbo lag...

This one is easy choice for me, personally I love the new 718 Spyder but it look too much familiarity with 981 Spyder. Only hardcore porschephile like us can see the differences. I go with 991.2 Targa all day.
