Default Tire question

i have a new 718 cayman s on the way, and trying to figure out what tires it’s going to have. I think it’s pilot sport 4s but on tirerack there are 5 different tires listed as oem. It’s a 2019. Anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance!

My 2018 Cayman with 20" wheels came with Pilot Sport 4S. Of course, like the stock market the past is not indicative of future performance.

Ha! Thanks man. So I’m new to Porsche. Is this a thing where the same car can come with a random different tire??

Exactly. Porsche runs a JIT (Just in Time) production so you get whatever was on the delivery truck that morning.

Cross your fingers and hope for the Pilot Sport 4S.

Well, yeah, like he said. The owners manual shows three wheel sizes for the 718s. However Porsche is picky about their tires, won't sell anything without the special Porsche "N" rating.

You could order a car with your choice of goodies but you'd wait six months for it. Or you can take what is available. I took one of the few on the dealer's lot. Much later I had occasion to ask the salesman about who had picked out that selection of options, whether someone there or whether it was just something delivered un-asked-for by Porsche. I was curious because mine is focused on a basic driving experience with the really nice 14-way seats, PDL lighting, 20" wheels, PDK, and a few other goodies, but not with things I'd rather not have, let alone use. The salesman told me they were ordered by their manager with options he thought would work well together. He chose well for my tastes, which is why I selected it. But I wouldn't know if the tires were part of the order. That's what it came with.

It seems to depend on the size wheels you order. Mine with 19's came with Yokohama Advan's. Switched them out recently for the Michelin PS4S and there is no comparison.

It doesn't matter....they wear out so fast you'll be buying replacements before you know it. LOL

OK. . .drumroll please. . .Eagle F1s. I'm a bit confused. thought it was mostly pzeros or 4S. From what I can see online/tirerack, these are maybe a step below 4S, but a step above pzero. I guess I'll follow up when I have my first day on track in a month or so.

Just picked up my car yesterday. 2019 Boxster Base with 20” Carrera Sport Rims. Mine came with the Goodyear F1’s. I was hoping for the Michelin’s. My sales person said it is just the luck of the draw. He also told me that he placed the order on my car. Deposit was placed on it 3 weeks ago. I liked this car because it had my favorite colors, wheels and it was a PDK. This car has more options than I would have ordered.
Two days of ownership and this car is awesome!

No, all four tires on the same car should be the same.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Congratulations, the car looks great!

funny Klepper. . .Congrats Ret.

yup, so i've had a weekend with the car, and 400+ miles later, here's the thought: it's AMAZING!! still babying it with the break in but starting to lean in a bit and it's just so much fun . who woulda guessed a light mid engine car would handle so well (Klepper, insert joke here). . .but jokes aside, LOVE it!
