I've never used a car cover before. But I'm considering buying one for my 718 Cayman, which should arrive at the dealer next week.

For those of you that have and regularly use covers, what do you look for in an outdoor cover?

Any outdoor cover recommendations for the 718 Cayman other than the Porsche logo one?

I use the Evolution Block-It cover and have had three of them over the past 10 years or so. Also works well as an indoor cover.

It is a bit bulky to role up but offers some ding or light hail protection. Nice and soft and doesn't damage/rub off your paint.

It is reasonably water proof but I would scotch guard it on the outside if you want to improve that. Also parking under trees will affect the surface tension on the cover and make it leak. Open areas work better.

If you are concerned about it being water resistant, you could always put a lighter water proof cover over the top. I wouldn't use a lighter one direct as they seem to rub a bit on your paint.

Does deteriorate over time so you will need to buy a new one every so often depending on how exposed it is to the elements.

I haven't bought a new one yet as my 718 is yet to arrive but last time I looked I notice they had them for 718s.

My car sadly has to live outside and I wanted to get it some UV / element protection. Quite happy with it.
