Default Tire wear on the track

After 3 runs of 30 minutes on the track (clockwise) my left front tire was completely worn on the outside. The rest of them were OK. My 718 Cayman GTS came with Goodyear Eagle F1. 6000 miles. Second time on the track. Warm tire pressure was about 34 35. (Recommended 33). Bad camber? Not a fan of those tires but could they be that horrible?

I have the Yokohamas and did about the same on 1 track day at close to 10000 miles (probably more like 6000 on the tires - I use a winter set too). Absolutely minimal wear shown from the track day and continued with them the rest of this summer.
But, I wasn't skidding about everywhere (barely ever provoked oversteer).

If you are an aggressive driver trying to squeeze everything out the car to hit good lap times, then the tires won’t hold up well that came stock on car. Mine came with Michelin 4S, they were nice on road, awful on track- completely shredded them in less the 2 full days at track. After going through 3 sets in just a few months, bought separate wheel set to run Cup 2s, now the car is quicker on track and tire wear is better. I just swap them for track days.

718 GTS is an awesome track car for the money; far exceeded my expectations.

Add max front camber on the front, strut towers are slotted, which should be right at -1.5 degrees with 0 toe. Rear -2.0 rear camber and .10 toe in each side. This will improve turn in and outside tire wear. My PS4S and RE-71R show even wear across the front. Still playing with rear camber as the -1.8 I am running now has more outside wear than I like.

As for out side wear and destroying the out side edges IF?? you charge out on the outlaps with low tire pressure you will destroy the tires. If the front end push’s ease off the throttle and let the turn come to you. No reason that PS4S won’t last multiple track days with proper care. It is the tire of choice for the 1Lap of America and some of those drivers aren’t slow.

Good inputs. Thank you. I have cup2s on my gt3 and they are great. They don’t make 235s for the fronts i thought.

One Lap participants use PS4S bc they are required to run 300 tread wear tire. Also, they only run 3 laps at a time per each track visited, so wear is minimal. On my GTS they were awful for track use.

Buy a smaller set of wheels so can run Cup 2s. I bought 19 HREs, I put some pics on another thread. So far thrilled, highly recommend dropping down on wheel size to run Cup 2s, it’s a simple tweak that so far has worked very well for me.
