Passenger airbag light

I have an indicator light above my rearview mirror and in my console that says the passenger side airbag is off.

Is that normal because I don't have anyone seated in the car with me? Or is there an issue?

I just got the car a few days ago.

There's a sensor in the seat, and when no passenger is detected it automatically deactivates the airbag. Normal.
