Default 718 Power Gains with COBB Accessport

The Porsche-focused team here at COBB Tuning is extremely excited to start talking about the power gains we have been able to accomplish on the 718 platform. Porsche’s current revision of the Cayman and Boxster boast impressive numbers in their factory configuration, however, our calibration team has been able to squeeze even more out of the turbocharged, horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder power plants. Below are some sample dyno charts showing expected power gains on cars using 93 octane fuel. For a complete write up, head over to the COBB Blog : Porsche 718 Boxster / Cayman Power Gains with Accessport Tuning.

Did you guys made test runs on car using downpipes/less restrictive exhaust exhaust? Any more power to be gain considering your expressed concerns regarding stock cooling systems? Did you guys experienced a limition there as incremental gain diminish from 718 base to S to GTS?

This is on a totally stock car. There is a problem in the 718 that if you run them a lot back to back even with fans they do heat soak a good amount.

Thanks Mitch.

Are you aware if this is a situation that is already being worked on by the aftermarket?

Is that heating problems due to the intercooler being undersized or the radiator? If it's the coolant, I believe the GTS should be less susceptible with its third center radiator, is that right?

If it's the intercooler, did positioning the fans at the side ducts? I believe that's where the heat exchangers for the intercooler live?

Also, any idea the type of gains with just a catless or high flow cat downpipe?

Very nice results.

I'm surprised that you are getting that much more out of the GTS compared with the S.

I thought the engines were identical but I see now the GTS is running a larger turbo. Any other mods contributing to the better performance from the GTS?

Also any maps for 98 octane fuel?

This is cool. Cannot wait until the release—I have long suspected that Porsche was under-rating the HP and TRQ on my 718 base

Would love to see what a tune base and 718s do in the 1/4 and mph.

I did some 1/4 runs on my PDK base with sport chrono and did 12.4-12.6@110. If this is a true OBD-II solution I'll get it and try to let you know

I've read that you have to first send the ECU to cobb and they'll send it back overnight. Then will the cobb accesspoint is usable for setting the tune or changing it back to stock.

Anyone have 1/4 mile, trap speed, etc. numbers with the tune? I'm taking delivery on a GTS in February and considering COBB. (I have a non-OBDII accelerometer and a safe place to test if someone wants to get the numbers in the LA area!)

New 718 owner here! Surprised there haven't been more posts on this thread after 6 months. Any verdicts??

Cheers,
