I'd lilke to remind you all that this is a community of people sharing a passion for Porsches - all of them.

Regards,
Part of passion is vehement disagreement. Red Sox v Yankees, Foreman v Ali, Tanya Harding v Patsy Ramsay......and now, 718 v 981.
We're all big boys here, and the anonymity inherent in chat forums lends itself to A-hole-ism, not to be confused with alcoholism which is a genuine condition. Maybe we should institute a peace corner like my kid's school: Major disagreement amongst kids leads to a trip to the peace corner to work it out. It's awesome, isn't it? Just like real life!

You are correct about the rated GTS HP. As most Porsches they are under rated at the factory and dyno higher in real life. Being a NASA TT driver I use the Dynojet # SAE corrected as my comparison.

Great move, thanks! Now I'd like to offer one more suggestion that has been on my mind for some time... merge the separate "Porsche Cayman & Cayman S all generations" forum into the "987 - 982 forum" and the organization scheme will be complete and as it should be. With the Cayman and Boxter products having so little difference it seems silly to have them in different forums. 911 cabrios do not live in a separate forum, how is that any different.

Don't mean to complain, just making a suggest that I think will benefit the community and keep readers here on RL.

I'm sorry this is just not correct - Porsche do not under rate their engines. If you put a Porsche on a high quality dyno such as a MAHA and apply the appropriate corrections you will find they hit the mark plus or minus three of four HP in a lot of cases.

For reference, my 450HP 911 puts down around 365RWHP.

I use the NASA dyno parameters i.e. Dynojet SAE corrected smoothing 5 which measures WHP. I use these numbers to compare to other like dynos. Your MAHA numbers show almost 19% powertrain loss which is either very high or your 450 hp 911 is overrated.

The NASA procedure ensures that all competitors use a standardised testing approach - this ensures results are broadly comparable - it does not ensure accuracy.

The 718S is a fantastic car, but it doesn't make 340WHP.

For reference the 991.2 C2S puts down around 350WHP - acceleration graphs are a pretty good way of assessing HP claims.

I fully understand why 781 owners feel alienated - you should see what happened to 991 Series II owners - virtually every thread was destroyed - for months. This even occurred when OPs requested that series I owners steer clear unless they could comment on the basis of some knowledge or recently acquired information.

For what its worth the same occurred on another Porsche site, to such an extent a new site was developed just for the 718.

Its better to deal with objective facts rather than subjective statements, one is a reality the other is a preference. I know I would happily own a 718 if space permitted.

Default 718 Forum grief

Renlister's in my view have always leaned in the direction fo the 911 platform. Having owned both front, rear and mid engined Porsche's I have found that there are several great forums out there, each with a separate focus.
