Default '58 356A coupe...

Has anybody out there replaced an entire wire harness on one of these cars (I have a new harness from Y 'n Z Yesterdays Parts for the car)? Please pm to me if you've done one! Thanks.

I did and I love it! Make sure you get the one with the negative battery cable- as it's usually not included

Did you do the harness yourself, or have it done? Regarding my ground strap, the old one is the best "wire" in the car. That said, I did order a fuse box and an interior light harness.

If you don't have it, get Joe Leoni's electrical book - it's invaluable!

Thanks, Jim! I have been wondering if I should do a Tutorial for this project, but I don't think that I will. Maybe a helpful tips article, but not the whole deal. I'll continue to photograph, and take notes, as I go, but we'll see how it turns out.

Sorry, but you really should consider it. The whole car is dissected in color coded diagrams in the greatest detail, as well as tons of trouble shooting advice. I can't do engine or carb work, but wiring I'm OK with and Joe's books are a great gift to the hobby. I have a lot of 356 books, but I consider Joe's electrical book my most valuable.

Pete, I ran it myself. The car was a speedster, and was disassembled and had just finished paint. So it was an easy car to run it through

Nice! Black is beautiful on a 356. Here's the one I almost bought 50 years ago, but sadly passed due to worries about insurance and repairs.

A T-5 is a T-5 unless it says "C" on its butt!

Hey, I've got an A model factory manual, and a factory 356 Spec Book. Neither source gives a torque spec for the crank pulley bolt on a 356 A 3-piece engine case. Does anyone have a confirmed spec for that bolt?

LOL. I guess my buddy who owned it was trying to fool some people, but not me. He wanted $2,400 for it.
