I've seen the light!
Took delivery of a '56 T1 A coupe a few days ago. It's immense fun and I'm absolutely loving the experience!
I think it was the mind-numbing efficiency of the 991GT3 that finally made me think about going old-school. I considered an early 911 (and still might go there), but the purity of lines of the T1 with beehives won out in the end.
The car is running a 912 motor and updated transmission and riding on wider wheels than the 4" standards. I'm sure I'll be posting many questions in the months to come.

Beautiful! Congratulations! The "one I let get away" 50 years ago was a black cab (T5B), and I have always liked black on 356's, although my T5B coupe is a fading red. Be safe.

Very nice!! Motor pics next please. I have been thinking recently of changing my motor. Hate to remove an original engine but in the eternal quest for more power I may just do this.

Glad to hear you are loving the new car.
I hope we find some time, this year, for you to experience the blue car......

That blue beast looks right at home at COTA. Would love to experience that. Meanwhile, I'll putter around Palm Springs for the rest of the week in the old banger. Thinking about driving it back to LA this weekend; 2 hours of freeway driving in a 60 year old car is a daunting thought, however.

I'd love to check the car out sometime, not far away. Makes me wonder if it is my uncle's 356A (black A coupe) that I spent a lot of time messing with in the late 50's growing up in Hollywood.

Don't forget to turn on the AC on that long drive - 356 system, two windows down at 60mph.

You're more than welcome to check out the car sometime. I live in the Hollywood area, but I'll likely be storing it in Pasadena eventually. Send me a PM or else come down to Luftgekuhlt as I plan on bringing her there.
Black/tan is the original colour combination.
