It's all there, but filthy. Lots of oil residue and gunk. The car is a non-runner, but I suspect it would not take too much to make it run again. I had the opportunity to get very close to it this past summer at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, as I arranged to get it on loan from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (I head the PVGP committee for the Allegheny Region PCA). I looked under it and in it. It very rarely gets loaned out, and I suspect our event was the last that it will happen, for a long long time. Pictures of it at the event in these threads:

RM Sotheby's said the car is expected to sell for more than $400,000. Seems somewhat low given the heritage of the car. But many don't connect Janis to Porsche as they did Steve McQueen. His special order 1976 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera sold recently in Monterey, CA. for $1,950,000. The “normal” value for a car like this has been estimated at $175,000.
Ironically the last song she recorded "Mercedes Benz"; does reference Porsche in the first and last verse.
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?

"Janis Joplin's 356C is without question one of the most important Porsches of all time," said Ian Kelleher, managing director of RM Sotheby's West Coast Division.
"It's a fantastic automobile that transcends art, pop culture and social movements, and is as groundbreaking and stunning as the renowned singer was herself," he said in a statement.
Joplin constantly drove the car, which was parked outside the Hollywood hotel where she died of an overdose in 1970.
The Porsche has since belonged to Joplin's family, which lent it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland where it was on display from 1995 until this week after the family decided to sell it.

I examined this car at the NC Museum of Art exhibit several months ago. The big problem with this car is that the art work is a reproduction, not original. And, it's not particularly well-done, being more of a (poorly done) approximation of the original as opposed to an exact copy.
It's not a nice car, being rode hard and put away wet, and Joplin's star power doesn't come anywhere close to the mystique of a McQueen. I will be interested in seeing the final sales price.
