I was ok with it. The oval window could have been depending on the original stylists. The color combination was good. And do what to mechanicals? Put a 3 liter in it? People complain. Update the original motor? People complain.
The interior was, while not stock, nicely done with colors that were of the period. They replaced the steering wheel with a more appropriate one.
I liked the updated stripes.
Customized, yes, but understated.

I was at San Diego Concours yesterday and the guys I talked to were mixed about the oval window. Chip Foose makes a very good living customizing cars that can catch the eye. So I am ok with the job. Something to remember, the car was not pristine, it was on its last legs so Foose brought one back from the dead. He knows enough not to molest a good example. His design could be called a design exercise. I like design exercises done by guys who graduated from Art Center College of Design. A place where the head of the Transportation Department respects and knows Porsche. Chip does respect the design elements of Porsche. He wanted another interpretation.
Porsche itself changed the design of the 356 with the Karmann Notchback. I feel Foose's version is better looking than a Karmann Notchback.
