Still waiting for the pictures....he forgot. In the meantime, I just bought an '02 turbo...which is hard for many 356ers to understand apparently, ha ha...

So I catalogued the car parts today with the coauthor of a 356 book. We dug out all the parts shoved into the cab by my uncle around 50 years ago, and then about a garbage can of dirt, wood bits, rubber bits, carpet bits, etc. after it was empty and dug out we drove it on the trailer to a car wash and blasted out the mud and dirt. First car wash in 50 years? Disappointed that the floor boards and parts of longitudinals are fairly rotted. My friend was excited about the engine and trans, snot green *****, turbo rings on all five wheels, etc. a good but hot and dirty day!

Well, after cataloging the parts, I'm in the sell it or fix it phase. I have for sale ads on the samba and 356 registry...might be someone out there that wants it worse than me, to bring her back to life...

As far as I know, it's already there. I asked the shop to keep me in the loop, want to see the progress on their rebuild. I imagine it will take several years. They do have pictures of a nicely restored '55 that was recently finished. The buyer offered to take me to his shop if I find my way to Vienna.
Barn finds wrote an article about my car just from the eBay ad, funny the author never bothered to contact me. http://barnfinds.com/pre-a-project-1...6-continental/
That's it for now...

One of my mistakes I have done......
I was bidding on a similar car for about 3-4 years back ....it was complet and stored in a garage since early 1970.
Extra motors and parts to it as well as some nos.
My higest bid was about 33 000$ it was sold for 37 000.
Sure it needed som TLC but not as close to your "barn queen"
But greit to hear your nice endings for an almost lost 356 :-)
I will try to dig out a photo and post it here.
