I know of one. It is a late 58, one of the last in a baby blue color with coupe seats. Owned by a guy down in Louisiana at one point...I saw it at his home. He eventually sold it to a gentleman and his daughter from Montana. As for as I know they still have it. I think it won most original Speedster at a few 356 events. It has wide whitewalls. I think it had a tan interior. Original paint, interior, etc etc. I would imagine there are more out there.

It is nice to know there are still some out there .. All Speedsters up for sale here in europe are 'over' restored - they are even better cars now than when they left the factory.

As somebody mentioned in another post here, unrestored cars have character. However, once a car is too far gone there is no choice but too restore it. I think unrestored or at least lightly/mechanically restored driver quality cars are highly sought after by those that think this way.

At some point you HAVE to restore your car. Things wears out. But proper maintenance can do a big difference.
I am afraid many decide to restore their cars without any important reason. I have another car from '49 in an almost 100% original condition. Sure, it isn't perfect. But it got patina and soul - or in other words as you also mentioned: character. I would at any time decide against any major repair or restorations as long as no serious issue is present.
