Hi guys, I am over here from the 44/68 section. Looking for guesstimate on value of 1956 356A convertable. Not looking for exact prices just a range. Looks to be about a 20 year old average but good restoration. Car has been taken care of since. I will be getting more information about the car soon but just looking for a place to start. Looks to be about a $15,000 to $20,000 car to me. Does that sound about right.

Yes, it is pretty nice with some bubbling around the hood area. Bright paint but it would take some work to get it back to show condition. Engine area looks well sorted but nothing perfect. Not show quality by any means. Interior is nice with seats recovered at some point. Miles are suppose to be correct at under 20,000. I imagine a lot of these older porsche's did not get driven that much.

Pretty unlikely it is a 20K mile car. Not impossible, but it would be one of the lowest mileage cars in the world. More likely it is 120K or even 220K.
Documentation to support the mileage claim is essential.
A straight '65 cab with no or little rust in good shape is worth at least $50k.

To make the car really nice it really should have a quality paint job put on. I am guessing to do it right would take about $6000. Does non-factory paint hurt the value of these. I would assume not too many have the original paint yet.

I think most people would want an original paint car, however if it did have origingal paint more than likely it would be in need of a repaint badly. Original paint is good to know what is underneath, and a good start for a repaint. There are not many survivors or all original 356s around and most of the ones I have seen have been in need of restoration with lots and lots of petina (however you spell it).
