Just ran across the car invoice for our 1962 Porsche. Sales price 9/27/62 was for $3700.00 My brother sold the car in San Diego in 1969 I think. Just wondering if it is still alive!

It is not unusual for Porsches of that vintage to be registered with the DMV as a different year than what the factory says is the year of manufacture. Our 1960 S-90 coupe (per Porsche's records) has been registered as a 1961 since it was brought to Calif. from Switzerland many years ago.

In looking at the invoice, it did say "used" and but it did say 1962. Yes, it was a Karmann hardtop. I remember my brother was in college when we got it and I was in high school. I knew that fellow sports car driver would flash their lights at each other. I had gotten in the habit of flashing Karmann Ghias. Well, when my brother returned from school the first time and saw that I was flashing the Karmann Ghias, he pointed out to me they were just a re-bodied VW and I should stop the flashing! Which I did.
