Default Aftermarket distributor for a 356C?

Have the engine and transaxle out of my 356C in order to swap transaxles to install an age appropriate transaxle in my car, and so I'm also renewing engine and rear suspension bits at the same time. Having given up my search for a rebuilt BR18 distributor for my 356C, I'm trying to find a new aftermarket distributor that will work well. Initially thought a Mallory Unilite would work, but found out that Jake Raby's parts manufacturer no longer recommends or sells them because they have a tendency to scatter. Has anyone used an aftermarket distributor on a 356C with good results and, if so, what distributor was it? RPM Partz, for example, has one for about $60....Thank you as usual.

We discontinued carrying these units due to quality control issues that popped up in late 2007 that the MFR was unwilling to recognize or remedy.

Jake, I think it's a great credit that you stopped selling those units when you found problems in their performance.

Default try an 050

The late Harry Pellow was a big fan of the 050, Bosch PN 230 081 050. Very nice advance curve tops out at 26 degrees at 3100 rpm. Most VW parts people won't know what your talking about, however, gotta keep calling till you find an OG.
