Default 356 Engine Rebuild help in Newcastle, CA

Hi all,

Long time pcar owner although unfortunately never a 356.....yet. In any event, I own a machine shop that some customer of mine referred me to a new resident that owns two 356s. My shop isn't an auto machine shop so I was unable to help him which is why I'm here posting. This guy needs to have a couple of engines rebuilt. Needs cases align bored and blueprinted etc.

Do any of you rennlisters have a preferred go to shop in the Sacramento area that works on 356s? Also, he has an '80 911 SC that needs a rebuild. Any suggestions for that one as well?

He asked me specifically about Renntech in Auburn Ca. I have no knowledge of them as I do all my own maintenance. Any recommendations for this shop?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'd call Jim, owner of EASY, and ask for recommendations. Jim sells parts and is not a mechanic, but he will provide recommendations you can rely on.

not local to Sacramento, but its the best porsche machine shop in Cali. http://www.competitioneng.com/

there is also Ollie's Machine - the "Old School" Porsche machine shop Santa Ana, CA 1-714-558-7334

both are experts with 356 engines.

Hi Geoff, nice to see another local.

We're lucky enough to have a world class restoration shop in our back yard.
Call Ted Blake at Ted Blake Restorations 2701 21st St, Sacramento (916) 455-5010

He has Walt at Competition Machine do all of his machine work for him, and might be able to save you some money. We had Competition Engineering do the machine work on our 1883.

Also, I might recommend he join 356CAR, http://www.356car.org/

and their list of (mostly) local resources: http://www.356car.org/Resources.html

Hope to see you at a Euro Sunday or Taco Tuesday sometime.
