Default can anyone help???

Hi

I have a 1980 GMC Beauville van which has been parked for a few months. It ran like a charm!

Yesterday I went out to start it and the engine was rev'ing really high so I kicked it down. Bang! After that when the engine was running there was a scraping sound.

I shut off the engine and the alternator belt was twisted (wasn't before) but worse, as I turned the big fan in front of the radiator, the blades are rubbing against the alternator.

Either the alternator moved or the fan??? Any ideas out there as to what the problem is and what needs to be done to fix it?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Emails about this would be grately appreciated.

I'll check the board later
thanks

Cindy

I'm not a long-timer on Rennlist, but I would suggest you see a mechanic.

I'm assuming you don't have a Porsche 356 engine in your GMC van...
