Greetings to all 356 owners.!
I have been reading a book recently on Porsches in general and it mentions that the 356 was produced with the exhausts exiting through the rear bumper for a ‘brief time’ before the idea was ‘abandoned’, but it does not say why?
What were the problems associated with this design?
Thanks.
Ben

Not a problem if one enjoys constant cleaning cause then they look cool.

Thanks Chris.
I hadn’t thought of that. I thought the problems would be heat related or something.
But now you come to mention it, I once had a TVR 420 SEAC which was basically square cut at the back and I was forever having to clean the soot of the back bumper, not helped by the fact that the bodywork was bright white.
Aerodynamics hey.
I don’t think my 928 will be suffering from this problem though as it’s a series 2 and the exhaust exits at a 45º from the corner. :o)
Cheers.
