Spyder 550 Original or Beck?

Can anyone tell from these pictures if this is an original Spyder 550 (reportedly original) or a Beck or some other kit? Owner has b&w pic of him in a previously owned 550 spyder RS.

Sure looks like a kit to me. Give away for me are the black VW wiper arms with the center nut securing them on. I also see a VW headlight switch **** on the dash. And those sure look like 4 lug VW steel wheels so its probably on an IRS beetle chassis or has IRS components. The front grill looks like the fiberglass replica version where as the original would be functional and not blocked off.

Interesting... good points.
The TX Registration sticker did say something like:
WPXXXXXXXX550XXXXXXX
but the Xs were litterally Xs, not me trying to remember what it said.
