I have a "REDBOOK" for 911 year/serial number reference - is there such a book or website that can help me determine (without COA) the serial number range for specific year 356 engines?

This site give engine type for the year, but no VIN/Engine serial number ranges.

I'm trying to determine if the engine in my "Field Find" 356 is the correct Orig. engine....and just too impatient to wait for COA from PCNA.

there are charts of engine # sets matched to VIN sets by model & yr. The Brett Johnson 356 Restoration Guide has it, as well as Schrager's "Buying Driving Enjoying the Porsche 356" (you should get the latter at least, the former if you're going to restore one... + a bunch of others).

there is no sure-fire way to match a specific chassis VIN to engine # without a kardex or COA. even those can be suspect since the factory & dealers did on occasion swap motors before or at delivery & that info might not've been entered into the records at the time. rarely is there 100% certainty w/ 356s - part of the charm.

post (or PM) me the engine # & I can look it up for you.
