Wow Brett, those pics brought back memories! That is almost the exact condition in which I found my '64 (from the original owner as well). Great solid starter for a "refurbishing". Nice SC too. You must live with some great car people (neighbor's Elise).

Thanks, Burke. Since your 356 seems similar to mine, what did you do with the wiring harness? I'm curious if you found it in good enough condition to use? Did you have many spot repairs to it? Or did you just chuck it and buy a brand new one since there is a vendor or two that make them?

Thanks for your comments. I haven't yet dug into this car, so I don't really know what to expect.

Expect the unexpected, then when all things aren't so bad, you can be surprised

Actually Brett, I really lucked out with my girl. It had been sitting in a driveway in TN for 4 years, (this was 10 years ago) but the lady who owned it "tried" to get it started once a month. After some tinkering, new gas' and air in the tires we pull started her and she came to life. I drove it for a month in as in condition. Had a Porsche place in Knoxville have at her, but it was mostly cosmetic (paint/interior) besides the engine/trans rebuild. I would say that 97% of my car is original. Somehow she survived very intact.

Thank you. We got mine started, too, without too much difficulty despite sitting several years (new battery, fuel filter, and oil change). Starter really seemed to have difficuly running, so I was wondering if I was looking at poor wiring. Could be a mechanical issue with the starter. My intention is to completely strip the body so I'll be getting a good look at all the wiring eventually.
