Default Body color / matching numbers request

Hi,

I'm trying to do a bit of research into a RHD 1956 Reutter coupe, body number 57886, engine number 63374. I see that the body and engine are correct for that model. The car is painted red, but may well have been repainted in the past.

Two questions though:
1. Would anyone be able to tell me if this is the correct engine number for the body, as it left the factory? (There is a Swiss co. that can tell me, but I cannot get their 20 Euro fee to them at all easily).
2. Would anyone be able to tell me the correct paint colour for this body number.

Or any pointers to how I can find this information out myself. (I can't have another look at the car though, I'm in Dubai and the car is not!!).

Thanks
Dave

The chassis is not on file in the 356 Registry or at www.356a.com. A search of chassis numbers in a range around 57886 suggests that engine could be in the original range. Marco at elevenparts is probably the best bet to dig out the Kardex information for you (call him with a credit card, perhaps??).

Dave,

Contact Porsche Cars Australia in Melbourne.
They will be able to organise a kardex for you.....which will answer both your questions.

I return to AUS this weekend.

Thanks Jim, Paul.

Yes Jim, I agree it appears that the engine and body numbers are in the right series - both towards the later end of 1956. It would be a bonus if it were the original engine.

Paul, thanks for the kind offer of the PC Oz's person's contact details. I've sent you an email with my email address.

Cheers

Dave

Just an update. I've been in touch with Marco at elevenparts - he advises that whilst he has info. on body / engine numbers he does not have info. about original paint colours.

I'll try Paul's Australian contact suggestion once I get the info. from him.

Regards

Get your CoA from Porsche [and hope that they have the data there]--you may have to wait 6-8 weeks for it but it's a nice thing to have nonetheless.
