So my C which has been in storage for a year was towed to a local shop to do nothing but get it started after the long storage, and replace the axle boots. First problem was battery. I bought an Optima and delivered it to the shop. Next they could not get any spark so they replaced points and plug wires. Now, only one Webber is functioning, so he is trying a new jet. Note that this car was in perfect running order last time it was driven. Here is the kicker, he has had my car for a month now! He keeps saying "this week" every week.
Sorry to rant, but this guy is a "Porsche Specialist" that told me he would have no problem getting it started. My only option is to pay him for what he has done and have it towed to another shop (if I can find one)... BTW, any shop recommendations in the Jacksonville area greatly appreciated.

Bienvenido a la Florida....Jim Morrison used to say "The West is the best..."...in CA you'll find 20 Porsche mechanics/square mile...in Fla...it's as scarse as water in the Sahara...
Good luck to put your baby to walk...better not live it in hibernation anymore!

Thanks Steve, I might do that next time... Here in Ponte Vedra there is a 911 or Boxster on every corner, but I have only seen a couple of Tubs around over the years. We are the home of Brumos Porsche, and they do have a small vintage program, but the guy told me he had no idea when he could get me in... This C has always been so trouble free, so Hopefully I can handle maintainance for a while once we get over this hurdle. And yes Pedro, she will get plenty of exercise from now on

One more option would be to pick up a copy of John Muir's "How to keep your VW alive forever" book, and a copy of either/both Elfrinks technical manual and Ken Ball's "Porsche 356 A B C" and start doign it yourself. I had to go that way - too poor for $90 oil changes - and with the exception of needing to rebuild my webers, I kept it going good and strong for 3 years.

I just ordered "Buying driving and enjoying the 356". I will look into those 2 as well. I am pretty handy, and have been doing basic maintainance on my Land Rover Defender for years. I look forward to getting to know every nut and bolt on this car as well. The carb thing is all new to me though...
