Wanted to say a quick hello After a few relocations, and a child, I am just now able to settle down and get back into my beloved 356. I have a '64 C coupe that I purchased from the original owner back in 1998 in Knoxville, TN. After a full restoration, my wife and I started a bout of relocations across the Southeast. The car has been rarely driven since then, and has been "resting" in my parents garage in Charleston, SC. I will soon be going up to bring her home to Florida for some good one on one time. I can't wait to get reaquainted with her. It has not been started for about a year (shame on me). The battery has been kept charged, but I am wondering what I will need to do? I assume drain the fuel and check all fluids. Any other advice would be appreciated?

First thing to do is to join RL! After that, pull the carbs, clean them thoroughly, and re-install. Also do an oil & filter change. Pull the ignition wire (coil to distributor) and turn the motor over for 15 to 20 seconds, let the starter cool for a minute and turn it over again. If you have a oil pressure gauge, look to be sure you're getting pressure when turning over. Then plug the ignition wire back in and fire it up. Check your tires for cracking. The tires are probably flat-spotted anyway, so get some new ones if needed. Completely bleed the old brake fluid out with new stuff. Then sell it to me.
