Chassis Number
Where is it? (Other than on the title). I just bought a 1963 sunroof coupe. I've restored VW's for several years and always loved the 356, so I took the plunge. Wanted to run the chassis number to see if the motor is original, but can't find it...
Sorry, you were all newbies at one time too.

If it helps, the title lists the chassis number as 121874, the motor, I presume is original and is numbered 704065, making this a 1963 1600S sunroof coupe, I'd just like to be able to match the title to the car, and other than the Reutter tag on the door jam (which is gone!), I don't know where to find the chassis number.

Hello
Open trunk and you will find it on the forward trunkflooredge beside the tire belt anchor.
You also will find it under the right other A pillar cover.
VIN and Chassisnumber are similar.
