Post Finding a project 356? Any help?

I've seen lots of 356's that have been restored for sale. But I'd rather find one as a project.Any ideas on tracking one down? And what to look for, model years better than others?
Thanks for the Forum!

I've owned a 356B and an SC. I wouldn't go with anything older as the older they are the more problems you're asking for. There's no question that the Speedsters have the most cache, but IMHO, they're better to look at than they are to drive. They stopped making them in model year 1958. The last two years 1964 and 1965 are the most trouble free.
The 356 Registry has a wonderful "talk line" full of technical Q & A's and often cars and parts for sell. Have a look at 356registry.org and learn about 356 Talk. Rennlist is wonderful for all things Porsche, but the Registry is supreme when it comes to 356!
