Default 356's at the HSR Daytona Classic

Some pix of gorgeous 356's at last weekend's HSR event. They were taken track-side from Turn 1/pit-out where I was an SCCA corner worker. They raced hard despite their age!! More pix on the 911, 914, and Perf & Comp boards.
Regards, Doug

Sadly ... I wasn't able to be there too.

Those guys are regulars on the HSR circuit. Some are supported by Vic Skirmant's [356 registry]new arrive and drive setup [toter-home rig and trailer] and others [Paul Swanson in the black #8] bring their own show.

Their cars are highly modified but true 1622 cc 356C/912 cased race motors. Typical race setup of scat crank, carillo rods, J&Es, nissan valves, etc., etc... #8 has aviation grade cylinder head temp sensors for the 4-pot and has a finely tuned ultra-hp setup... very trick and very nice ... [sigh]

Peter Kitchak's Toad Hall Racing white 2.0L is a true R car. Very light and very fast [last picture].

Sorry you couldn't be there--great weather and racing all 3 days of the event. The 4 356's ran their own 8 lap session Sunday afternoon (with 1 Fiat and 1 Austin Healey). They battled hard all race long, and it is always fun to see the historic cars run (there were about 250 at the event). Hopefully you can make it down to Sebring the first weekend of December--great historic track for HSR to run on. I'll get more pix from whatever corner I am captaining for SCCA.

Thank you for the photographs. Is the yellow #28 a cut coupe'?

Not sure if the yellow 356 is cut. I've seen it before but can't remember. I do know it belongs to John or Jim Voss of Jacksonville, Florida. He is a 356 registry and Florida Owners Group member. He also has a nice white speedster.
