Default Carrera Brake Question?

I pulled the front brakes on my project car 57 A Speedster today and found that it had a full set of Carrera brakes. I am converting the car to disk brakes up front and found that the bearings in the conversion did not fit the spindles. My question is this, did the carreras have larger spindles? If not than what are my spindles from?
Thanks

if our car originally came with carrera brakes, keep em. originality is king when it comes to speedsters.

That is exactly what I found. The brakes are not original to the car, however I think we are going to hold onto them for a while. They are in beautiful shape (just need a little paint). I am not going to touch them because they are so original. If anyone would like pics of them to post send me your e-mail and I can send pics.
