Harry - thank you. I totally agree with you. Unfortunately with forums like this we have to wade through trolls sometimes, and their effect is HUGE.

Joanne and Robert are amazing assets to this and other boards. The Porsche knowledge they have is phenomenal. Remember those EF Hutton commercials, where the entire room would fall silent when anyone would say, "...and EF Hutton says..." the same happens when Robert and Joanne speak of 356s. I swear their cars run on their blood, not oil. They really keep the 356 alive. Gheez, I wish I was their car!!

Anyway, this "registered user" will certainly be banned soon, or in the least he will be ostracized due to his lame remarks. He has earned no respect here.

I do so humbly request that I am stricken from this forum and never allowed to return.
I ask this because I genuinely feel there is a cancer among this group and it is not me. I might have caused a stir and given some of you a dose of external opinion but your problems where here long before I ever arrived.

At the nuclei there is a group of sophomoric charlatans that hide sheepishly behind a persona of misconstrued humility. And, their followers call it “Culture”. Furthermore it is the kind of mindset that got the Germans into trouble sometime in the 1930s……Hence, not the kind of “Culture” I would like to associate with.

So propaganda and hype aside, I am done name calling. I am not going to respond to the brilliant soliloquy of Mr. Halfman, but I am sure the rest of this forum will by now have enjoyed perusing over his brilliant command of the English language. So Mr. Moderator please pull my plug. And, let these sheep rest easy in their bondo forged pretense and worship your archaic deities.

CS77,

I am sorry you feel that way, but you started this entire mess by calling all the folks on this forum a bunch of "Poser Purists" in your very first post on Rennlist EVER. And you call us a Cancer??? Cancer strikes good people suddenly and out of the blue.

YOU SIR ARE THE CANCER.

You are more than welcome to stay and play and learn, just don't go attacking people that you do not know. No one told you that your car was a POS, you told US that our cars are POS's which SIR they are not. No one told you to cram a toe up your ***, no one came out and said Clones / Outlaws are "BAD", no quite the contrary, that said they were different, they said that they were not real Porsche's which you know they are not....

Anyway, I'm sorry you feel that way about us becuase we are not a bad lot. Really.................. People know who we are because we've been posting here a while. In your first post you immediately alienated yourself from 95% of the folks in the 356 forum. What did you expect. Wine and Roses?

I personally feel they is nothing wrong with Clones / Reproductions / Recreations whatever the bloody you want to call them. I happen to think they are fine and dandy if that is what you want to have or what you can afford. Just don't go passing the word that they are the real deal (Factory, WHAT Factory), because they are not, no matter how bad you want it to be.

Mellow out ............................ I'll take a serious look at myself if you promise to take a serious look at yourself too.

Here's some direct quotes taken from your posts:

FIRST POST ON RL:..... and then post about how replicas do not have a “Porsche Soul” or how they do not “Sound” or “Smell” as they should. After all we are talking about Performance Vehicles not Rotten Tuna Fish or Spoiled Milk. And, for the record, I am not trashing Porsche, I just get a little tired of “Poser Purists” that believe that there were only 3 or so ideal Model Designations that the factory ever built.

SECOND POST: Well Laifman, it appears that you are one of the lug nuts that fit the Profile of “Poser Purest” with your “I can’t believe it’s Baby Pooh Green P car.” .....................Regarding your concern about my performance I am sorry but I do not require the massive doses of Viagra that a blowhard like you consumes so as to get turned on by the sound of their own key strokes. And finally, to your point pertaining to my conversion process, my car started out as (Factory Built) interpretation of a 356 D, I felt an Outlaw treatment would better appeal to my own interests. But thank you for your reply because you typify the type of owner / individual I never wish to become.

THIRD POST: RJT I can think of a good place for you to shove that stupid toe...Anyway, you calling my car a Kit is like me calling yours a POS, oh wait I am sorry..................

FORTH POST: (TOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!) We are all speaking to our opinions Mr. RJT, and I do apologize but, I feel as though you own a sorry old relic that breaks a sweat going 55mph down hill. To that, I believe that you need to PhotoShop it to hide what a real catastrophe it truly is. But, that is the Beauty of our great land there is enough space here so that we will never need to cross paths and I will never need to offer you assistance when you are broken down on the side of the road.................
...................In all seriousness, as a gesture of good faith, when the time comes that your Vehicle is 99% Bondo, and all of your trim bits come from GT Werks, NLA, Tweeks or FiberSteel , I will welcome you as an honorary member of our Plastic community. After all, this whole process started out as a basic interest in a simple design.

FIFTH POST: Freddy, if you would like I can send you a list of my academic credentials and built point some selected professional accomplishments. Or are you looking for IQ test scores ?
To your point of PCars made for profits, could you talk to me about your PORSCHE SUV in the collage you so modestly put together and explain it's place in Porsche Core Values? I would like to pursue your feelings there since you are so worldy and well rounded........vai se foder

SIXTH POST: Hold on, let me go get my wife to respond in my defense. I do not want to look like I am picking on a lady.

Come on, let's all get along here.....................

AND YES I STILL HAVE HOPE IN HUMANITY.................

While I previously spoke up and said how much I did not like cs77's put downs of other people, I have to say that the recent responses have been perhaps equally as aggressive. And, yes, this is a "Porsche" site - so, its posters certainly have every right to love "real" Porsches and be heavily biased against kit cars. But, I'm thinking some of the responses have been a bit over the top themselves. I mean, he's just playing with you now, and perhaps always was. Just ignore it and realize it's not worth your response or emotions. Why be a name caller too? And, his point about SUV Porsches is well taken, and certainly well agreed with on this board when the thought of a pepper pot first appeared - I don't think anyone threatened to leave before simply because others suggested the truck was a travesty. I don't know Robert personally. But, I've definitely appreciated his posts from time to time. That said, I find it hard to believe that cs77s comments alone were the sole reason that Robert has reputedly stopped posting to the rennlist all together. All he had to do is stop reading this thread. There are plenty of other great and beneficial threads on this board. Robert has shown a tougher skin than that.

Oh I'm pretty sure that he is playing with us but that doesn't make it right.

We all have agreed and disagreed on this board before without a problem like this.

Time to go drive our POS and forget about it!!!!!

I wanted to report that I just had a very civil exchange of e-mails with cs77 off line. While he is to blame for instigating some rough dialog here, he is most definitely a car guy. He may currently appreciate other types of cars. But I would not be surprised if, in time, he comes to appreciate 356s and even become a rabid "real" fan. Maybe not, but not everyone is going to love 356s. Forgive and forget? Well, not yet, but I'll let him prove himself in his future postings and comments.

good for you, Jay, always nice to have a conciliator in the loop. being a car guy is also nice, but not sufficient in&of itself - did you suggest a charm school to him?

Ouch!!! Some virtual bickering and I'm losing all the fun...too much work lately and I haven't been able to dedicate as much time to Rennlist as I'd love to...

Anyway...please JoAnne...tell Robert that we will not tolerate the lack of his presence in this forum...

Hey Freddy...I leave you alone for a couple of weeks and you already got in trouble!!!

Hey cs77...using the "F" word in this forum (even in Portuguese) is definitely very bad taste...

Let's put this clones vs. real another way....

A girl gets a ***** - yeah she'll enjoy it and have fun, but it'll never replace the feeling of a man...

hahaha not my example, simply the example of my friend who just walked in the door!

Interesting thread. I agree with the sentiment that a clone offers all the amenities and safety features of a new car. (What was the thinking in putting the gas tank up front and in the same compartment as the battery???). I guess my reaction tho is, so why not buy a new car? A Honda S2000 goes for the same as the high-end clones and has a warranty, dealer network, etc. Of course a S2000 doesn't look as remotely cool as a Speedster, but you will always be asked if it's real or fake. And, who wants to say they are driving a fake? Also, the S2000's value will drop precipitously, the 356 may actually appreciate.

A very good point - but that might be because I love the S2000. It is simply one of the most fun cars to drive - and isn't that part of the point of a 356? It's even hand made. I came so very close to buying one instead of my Boxster S. I still think about owning one. And those that complain about the bottom end are wrong (IMHO). If you drove an S2000 around all day below 6,000 rpm, you'd have a very nice sports car - not some wheezy econo box. It's just the insane results that happen immediately when you go over 6,000 rpm that makes you THINK the lower rpms are weak. Ok, don't kick me off the board for loving another marque! Then again, I'd rather have a real Speedster than a S2000, and an S2000 over a kit car (which I wouldn't kick out of my garage either).

"a clone offers all the amenities and safety features of a new car."
if you mean a 356 kit car, no, they don't have to meet DOT safety regs as an OEM product does.

"What was the thinking in putting the gas tank up front and in the same compartment as the battery???"
weight dist. when 356s burn up, it is usually due to a backfire from the carbs, not from the batt igniting the fuel sys. (another distinction from old Loti; Bosch vs Lucas)

"the 356 may actually appreciate."
if you mean a 356 kit, it would not be the norm.

Jay, you're just a push-over for neat cars.
