356 clone or the real deal...?

Ked, I'm glad you spoke so nicely about cs77's comments. I was not going to be so nice. Then again, I guess I can't leave some comments alone. First seeing as how this is cs77's first post, it is clear that he perhaps has very little experience in these matters. For example, he is "in the process of an outlaw conversion on a Convertible D replica." If he had any real experience here, he would realize that you can't have a "conversion" if it doesn't start as a 356 in the first place. He would also know that there were not just three "ideal" models. And of course his comment "Perhaps at my age performance is still an issue," presumably is something suggesting he is a teenager or, as he admits, having performance issues.
Finally, and perhaps most impotently , and seriously as the previous were all in jest - quite a few people who have responded to this post have indicated having owned both kit cars and real 356s and they gave their opinions based upon those personal experiences, including me. In fact, most, if not all of them, including me, said that the kit cars were great cars. No one was putting down owners of kit cars at all. It's only you, cs77, who is behaving childish and saying negative things about other people and not comparing actual personal experience in your tirade. Well, I'm sure that your hot rod kit car is just the right car for you. I wish you well with it. However, I'm thinking that your ownership of the car will be far shorter than the average person who buys a "real" one now.

Wow, actual debate on the 356 forum!!!!!!!! Who woulda ever thunk it?????
cs77, Keep it up.......This is the funniest crap I've read in a long time, SERIOUSLY!!!!
A kit car owner coming on an actual PORSCHE discussion website and calling PORSCHE owners "posers"!!!
Me thinks you just don't get it. But if you really do get it, then it's time for me to say goodbye................................................................. ...........SERIOUSLY!
This kinda stuff isn't worth responding to, but for some reason I did anyway!
HMMMM....I might just be tired, but
This could possibly be my LAST post on RENNLIST. Yeah, it's time.

we tolerate just about anything on Rennlist, but criticizing JoAnne's toe is beyond the pale! I'm afraid cs77 (who clearly failed his Dale Carnegie course) will be challenged in getting much support for his pov (whatever the hell it is - "I'm mad at Porsche owners & I can't take it any more..."?), if only due to boorish manners.
clearly, there are no questions that cs77 hasn't already mastered, so there isn't much for him in this forum. I think he'll win friends and influence people more successfully in OT - a good place to post opinions.
one good thing about Porsche Purists, they do serve as a standard by which to calibrate deviants.

We are all speaking to our opinions Mr. RJT, and I do apologize but, I feel as though you own a sorry old relic that breaks a sweat going 55mph down hill. To that, I believe that you need to PhotoShop it to hide what a real catastrophe it truly is. But, that is the Beauty of our great land there is enough space here so that we will never need to cross paths and I will never need to offer you assistance when you are broken down on the side of the road.
Regarding my 996, I happen to have loved the car over my tenure with it and I remain content with every turn of the ignition. I am aware it is no Boxster or 993, which might perhaps better win your approval, but it is a car that I enjoy. In any case, thanks for your feed back.
In all seriousness, as a gesture of good faith, when the time comes that your Vehicle is 99% Bondo, and all of your trim bits come from GT Werks, NLA, Tweeks or FiberSteel , I will welcome you as an honorary member of our Plastic community. After all, this whole process started out as a basic interest in a simple design,

cs77 - All of RJT (Mr and Mrs, fyi) cars have been *excellent* examples of whatever they are. All real, no kits, no repros. And I'd own any of the *many* 356s they've had LONG before anything else Porsche has made.

Well, cs77, as I said, kit cars are great cars and yours sounds great too. I wish you well with it. I only wish you also did not start your presence here on this web site so negatively and with so many personal insults.
As to 996s, I'm not sure what you thought my opinion would be. But, I think they are great cars. I am not one of those who feel they are Toyotas with Porsche badges. And, I think it's too bad that the front end that has such a nice rendition of the Le Mans race cars was not well received. I was about as close as I could be to buying a 2000 Silver/Boxster Red, ROW M030, sunroof, Factory sport exhaust 996. Oh well. I'm happy with my other car instead.
As to Baby Pooh Green, well I've always felt sorry for the kid poohing in this color!
