Default Paint color question

I saw this beauty at the German Auto Show in Ventura. The owner told me the paint color but all I can remember is it started with a "P". If I remember he also told me his was a 1957. Anyone have any idea of what paint colors started with "P" in 1957?
thanks

I think it may be Polyantha Red which is a 1956 color, although I think it's a little deeper than the red in the picture. There also is a Peru Red. I don't know what year Porsche used it nor do I believe that I've seen that one in person...... At least that I know of.

JoAnne

PS: is that Olaf Shipstead's car?

yes that is it. Polyantha Red! Thank you. It looks lighter in the picture but in person it was an amazing color. I do not remember the gentlemens name who owned the car.

thanks again

You're welcome. I'm almost 100% positive that's Olaf's car. It is a beautiful car. I'll try to find a picture I have of it, scan it and post it.

Hi Rhino...John Willhoit sells "paint samples" for $35...go to this link

http://www.willhoitautorestoration.com/PaintChart.htm

Get the sample, take to your paint shop and they will be able to accurately match the factory paint...

Good luck...
