Evan,
John Willhoit has one of the nicest C Coupes for sale you'll probably ever find.
This one is a beauty. Call John and tell him Robert from Arkansas sent you!

Here's the car......

Good Luck,
Robert

There are 356 C coupes out there for 30K. Nice, original unmolested ones might take a little searching. I've seen 30K cars that need some substantial work though. This one at 49K needs absolutely nuthin'.
I sold my 65 to the guy that is selling the car at Willhoits. Cars go round and round all the time. If you haven't already go to www.356registry.org and check the classifieds daily. Also take a look at www.europeancollectibles.com and www.356sales.com I think Bob at 356 sales has a nice Green C coupe for sale.
I see you are in SoCal (356 heaven), call some of the local 356 repair shops and tell them what you are looking for. A customer might come in and tell their mechanic that they are thinking about selling........you get a shot at it before it goes public. You never know!

No, Willhoit has the car that the guy owned (still owns) that bought Helga.
Very similar car except Helga was a 65 and had some really rare options. And yes, the guy was the original owner. He purchased her in Germany in 65 while in the Air Force.

Cos,
As a reference point I just sold my very nice 59A coupe, a solid #2 car with one repaint for $45k and I think I under priced it.

Here is the replacement...

Hi Robert,
I don't have any other good photos yet. It's a 58 with a Super motor, matching numbers, same owner since 68, he bought it when he was 19 and drove it all through college, raced it, autox'd it, etc. He lives here in Bend and started the restoration for the 50th Speedster event, worked his tail off to get it done and then broke a valve 50 miles out of town on his way to Monterey. It's been in storage and a few car shows since (motor repaired). Oh, original Carrera roll bar, full tool kit, etc.

Selling my A coupe, to a very needy buyer, was contingent on me getting the Speedster. It took a few months to close the deal.

Are you and JA planning to come to Portland next summer for the Parade?

BTW, I was bummed I didn't get the call when Max went up for sale!

Best,
Mark

Sorry you didn't get the call. We were bombarded by calls and emails about Max since the beginning. It was insane!!! I want you to know you were on the prospective buyers list, but we didn't even get to the list. Robert sold it back to the person we bought it from. He said he was going to keep it for a while in the showroom and then maybe sell it. He kept it for two months and then sold it. Can't say I blame him. If the $$$ is right, go for it!!! Anyway, Max is back in Southern California and what's Ironic is that Max now resides in PV only a few miles from where we lived. It's a small world indeed!

As for the upcoming Portland Parade, I'm not sure we'll be going... yet. Robert and I both have been very down on PCA as of late. Matter of fact we almost didn't renew our membership this time, but Robert's been a member for so long we hated to let it go. The Hershey Parade was a nighmare for us and for a few more folks that we know so it surely didn't make us want to ever do another Parade again. We had a blast in '95 at that Portland Parade, but those were the old days. Well, I guess we'll see................

JoAnne

PS: Love the new Speedster! When did you get it? Was it already that color?

Hi JoAnne,
I understand about Max, you've got to stay on top of things to get the nice cars! Did it go to Nick? That is where I found my ex Dick Barbour Roadster race car - hidden in the back room!

Interesting to here about the Parade. Frankly I'm not really into showing cars, I much prefer racing and driving. I may end up skipping Portland as well, even though I'm only 3 hours away.

I've had the Speedster about a month and it is in it's original colors.

Mark
