I'm trying to trace my old 356, in England although I now live in the USA. Info as follows:
1963 356B T6 Cabriolet 1600S (Right Hand Drive) Silver with Dark Blue Leather & Top. Chassis #158199 Engine # P705827. Registration BMM933A
I discovered this very rusty cab in a scrap yard in England in 1981, I took the car to Baumann in Zurich, Switzerland for restoration. The car was completed in 1987 and was very successful in concourse that year in the UK (PCGB National Champion and Benson & Hedges European Champion).
Made the cover of Classic Car Magazine and Classic & Sports Car Magazine in the same month of December 87'
I unfortuneately had to sell the car to fund business interests at the end of 1987 to an American Lawyer in London.
Any info on her whereabouts would be greatly appreciated.

Not listed in teh DB at http://www.356a.com/VIN.asp - not sure how long ago the Registry's database was copied into it. May want to try Bill Block - blocklab at aol dot com - he maintains the official Registry Registry.

According to the DVLA

Date of First Registration 20 05 1963
Date of Last V5 Issue 16 11 1998
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1582CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Unlicensed
Vehicle Colour SILVER
And this from the RAC data check.
Manufacturer PORSCHE
Model
Body type SPORTS
Colour SILVER
Fuel type PETROL
Date manufactured 01 January 0001

You could try the AA site LINK which may be of more help, but you have to pay for that info. About £36.00. Good luck.

If you know the name of the American lawyer you sold it to, you can probably find him on www.martindale-hubbell.com, email him and ask him who he sold it to (of course its been so long he probably wouldn't remember), but just an idea.

Steve:
Thanks so much for your assistance. I put so much time, effort and money into that car it would be nice to know it has been looked after and enjoyed since. I remember the day I delivered it to it's new owner very bitter sweet!
I sold the car for 35,000 pounds in 1987, which just about covered the restoration costs. It seemed like alot of money at the time, but not compared with todays market for top shelf open 356's!
